G.C. Cook, 26, son of John G. Cook, Sweetwater, Texas, has been awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received at Sudong, Korea, last Nov. 2.
Presentation was made by Colonel H.L. Litzenberg, Jr., commanding the Seventh Marine Infantry Regiment. Cook was wounded while serving as a machine-gun section leader.
A graduate of Sylvester High School, Sylvester, Texas. Cook was called to active duty last August with the Houston Marine Corps Reserve unit. He left the States on Sept. 1.
