John Stephen Martin graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS Degree in Business Administration. was commissioned an Armor Officer upon graduation from U.S. Army Armor Officer Candidate School Class 3-67, Company E1 at Fort Knox, Kentucky, 20 January 1967. His first duty assignment was as a Platoon and Executive Officer, Company A, 4th Battalion, 68th Armor at Fort Knox.
