This summer 6 June 2018 during part of the annual D-Day remembrance festivities a very unique and special event will take place: The 2018 Navy SEAL Swim/Ruck Challenge. A friend of the Sons of Liberty Museum and the Army Air Corps Library and Museum, active duty SEAL, Lt. Ronnie E. Harrison will take part in this event and along with 24 other participants will swim in the English Channel, climb cliffs on Omaha Beach and Ruck to St. Lo. "Harry" is participating-fundraising for the SEAL Museum and Trident House in Fort Pierce, FL and we are supporting him in this endeavor. Following in his own words detail this fantastic event:
Hi, my name is Ronnie Harrison. I want to share with you an event I will be participating in this June in Northern France; it will support the US Navy SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida.
This summer, I along with 25 participants will launch from boats amid the English Channel to swim 10 kilometers south, landing on Omaha Beach in France. We will then climb the 120-foot cliffs of Point Du Hoc and arrive at the U.S. Memorial Cemetery. After laying a wreath in remembrance of our soldiers who died on the invasion in 1944, we will then don 44 lb. packs and march 35 kilometers to the town of Saint Lo, France.
Why do all this you may ask? Well, we have a unique chance to retrace the steps and pathway to the original objective of ‘Operation Overlord’ on D-Day 1944 which our forefathers, the Naval Combat Demolition Units (NCDUs), Scouts and Raiders (S&R), and Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs) traveled. We have been given an incredible opportunity and will be closer to history than ever before and I want you to come along with us for the ride.
The participants are primarily active duty and retired military with some civilians and wounded warriors; we have all committed to personally raise a minimum of $5K per person which will go to the Navy SEAL Museum and be used for the maintenance and upkeep of the Trident House (https://www.navysealmuseum.org/support-us-navy-seals/trident-house) and preservation of the SEAL Museum (https://www.navysealmuseum.org/).
Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.
Corporate Sponsorships are also available:
We are asking your company to help support our legacy through the Navy SEAL Museum in Ft. Pierce, FL by sponsoring our team with socks and nutritional products (gels, bars, supplements, etc.) or any other donation you deem appropriate, as we train and execute the event which will take place in Normandy, France on June 6, 2018 (D-Day anniversary). This is only a suggestion on my part; there are corporate sponsorship opportunities as well with tiered levels of $10K/$7.5K/$5K. Your company has been so loyal to our community in the past and we are humbled by your past support. Should you choose to help our cause, your tax-deductible contribution would go directly to the Navy SEAL Museum, a registered 501c (3) organization.
Throughout the event we will be accompanied by a professional videography team which will fully document this event. This video will be offered to several interested networks for possible broadcast once the event is complete. As a side note, your logo and sponsorship will be marketed with the video to Netflix, Discovery and Military Channel for viewing in the future so this could be a positive marketing tool for your company.
Throughout this process your company’s name and logo will be used in articles, interviews and exchanges with members of the press, as well as being added to clothing and wetsuit items we will use while training, and on the day of the event.
